Director of Emergency Services
Fort Worth, TX | Full-Time | Leadership
We are seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for a high-volume Emergency Department within a large acute-care hospital.
This leader will be responsible for the overall clinical operations, staffing, quality, patient experience, financial performance, and strategic growth of the Emergency Department. The Director will work closely with physicians, nursing leadership, hospital administration, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Quality Leadership
- Provide oversight of Emergency Department clinical practice, daily operations, and patient care delivery.
- Promote evidence-based practices, patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure appropriate staffing and clinical competencies to meet patient care needs.
- Monitor quality metrics, patient outcomes, throughput, and operational performance.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance-improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.
Patient Experience
- Promote a culture focused on exceptional patient and family experiences.
- Monitor patient satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary leaders to improve patient flow, communication, and care coordination.
Leadership & Staff Development
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Emergency Department leaders and staff.
- Promote employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and professional development.
- Support recruitment, retention, succession planning, and performance management.
- Ensure the right staff and skill mix are available to meet patient volume and acuity.
Operations & Growth
- Oversee department operations, patient throughput, staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership to improve services and identify opportunities for growth.
- Support strategic initiatives, technology enhancements, and process improvements.
Financial Management
- Participate in annual budgeting and financial planning.
- Monitor department expenses, productivity, staffing, supplies, and equipment.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and manage costs while maintaining quality patient care.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of recent Emergency Department Director experience in an acute-care hospital.
- Recent experience must include Director-level ED leadership within a large hospital/facility.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Current RN license required.
- Strong knowledge of Emergency Department operations, patient flow, staffing, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams in a complex, high-volume acute-care environment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
