Administrative – Certified Outpatient Coder – OP/IP Coder

Job Summary:

We are in search of a Certified Coder who reviews clinical documentation and diagnostic results as appropriate to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-9-CM /CPT codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. 

• Accurately codes conditions and procedures as documented in the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. 

• The person working in this Coder position will work onsite at the main hospital campus but will code for multiple practices across the hospital company system for specialty physicians.
  
  

Responsibilities:

• Assign, sequence, validate, and/or edit codes/DRGs and abstracted data (e.g., physician, discharge disposition, query tracking) for inpatient records for multiple facilities using ICD-9-CM /CPT, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.

• Maintain or exceed established accuracy standards.

• Maintain or exceed established productivity standards.

• Utilize the complete patient medical record documentation in code/DRG assignment, validation, and/or editing of codes/DRGs.

Requirements: 

• Undergraduate (Associate's or Bachelor's) degree in HIM/HIT preferred.

• Minimum 1 year of Certified Urology hospital inpatient coding required - 3 years preferred.

• Coding Technical Skills - ICD-9-CM /CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRGs, APR DRGs, and POA Assignment.

• RHIT, RHIA or CCS preferred.

• Must be disciplined, must be able to meet metrics.
