SPECIALTY UNIT: Retirement / Senior Living / Nursing Home
LOCATION: East Lansing, MI
SHIFT: 7-3pm, 3-11pm, 11-7am
JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent

Job Summary:


Assist residents with activities of daily Living such as showering, dressing and toileting ensuring residents under your care are content. Perform vital signs, assist LPN and RNS with patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors vital signs and weights, keeps a record of this information.

  • Reads assignments, reports, and service plans.

  • Full physical care for residents. Maintain resident elimination.

  • Responsible for completion of daily assignment.

  • Promotes economical use of equipment and supplies.

  • Cooperates with all other disciplines in providing optimum continuity of care.

  • Transports, or walks with, residents to/from activities, as needed.

  • Reports/documents all procedures, care, reactions, and other pertinent resident information, as needed.

  • Participates in resident care planning and implementation.

  • Assists with rehabilitation of residents according to the medical and nursing care plans.

  • Assumes own responsibility to demonstrate good body mechanics and proper use of gait belt for lifting or transferring residents.

  • Attends offered in-services on good body mechanics.

  • Is responsible for following safe practices in all areas of work.

  • Is required to perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities as directed by department head or supervisor, or as is necessary to perform this job.

  • Helps keep resident rooms neat and clean.

  • Participates in in-service programs and maintains continuing education requirements.

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, or a flexible work schedule.

  • Ability to communicate in English.

  • Patience, compassion and a sincere desire to serve seniors is essential.

  • Ability to anticipate the needs of residents.

  • Must treat resident information in a confidential manner.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide and/or receive a Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the State.

  • Must be certified in both CPR and First Aid.


Education:

  • High School Diploma, or GED.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant Cert from the state of practice.


Experience/Knowledge:

  • Maintains CPR certification and first aid training specific to adults.

  • Previous experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.

  • Attend and participate in continuing educational programs.
