Director of Electrophysiology (EP) & Arrhythmia Services

Position Overview

Job Summary

The Director of Electrophysiology holds comprehensive administrative and operational responsibility for a highly specialized EP and Arrhythmia program. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will serve as a strategic leader overseeing all clinical operations, capital and operational budgeting, physician relations, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will blend clinical excellence with advanced business acumen to optimize patient outcomes, maximize departmental efficiency, and drive strategic growth within our cardiovascular services lines.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Quality Care

  • Department Oversight: Direct daily operations for the Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia labs, including personnel management, staffing, and clinical workflow coordination.
  • Physician Collaboration: Build strong, collaborative partnerships with electrophysiologists and cardiologists to identify department needs, resolve operational bottlenecks, and elevate performance/quality standards.
  • Clinical Excellence: Establish, implement, and maintain evidence-based guidelines for clinical practice, ensuring care is aligned with industry best practices for quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Financial & Strategic Management

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Formulate, implement, and manage the annual operational and capital expenditure budgets within corporate guidelines.
  • Financial Reporting: Conduct rigorous variance analysis, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and deliver actionable financial and statistical reports to executive leadership.
  • Supply Chain & Inventory: Provide strict oversight for high-value specialized inventory, equipment tracking, and vendor relations within assigned areas.
  • Business Development: Research and build data-driven business cases for new clinical services, advanced technology, or equipment requests—clearly outlining risks, benefits, costs, and revenue projections for executive approval.

Compliance & Administration

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all lab operations meet or exceed program standards, local/state laws, and strict hospital accreditation requirements.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Analyze complex operational issues, identify variances, and implement corrective plans of action to ensure fluid department operations.

Job Qualifications

Required Education & Credentials

  • Licensure: Current, uncompromised State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or a Compact/Multistate RN License (with the ability to obtain a Texas license within 90 days of hire). Candidates must be an RN to be considered.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Required Experience

  • Clinical Expertise: Minimum of five (5) years of direct clinical experience within an Electrophysiology (EP) setting.
  • Leadership Track Record: Three to five (3-5) years of successful management or director-level experience overseeing high-volume Electrophysiology or Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab operations.
  • Executive Presence: Proven ability to communicate effectively with medical directors, sub-specialty physicians, and C-suite administrators.
