$30 to $40 per hour

Job Summary

Our growing, locally owned and managed, not-for-profit health system is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing while delivering precise, accurate, and timely results to support patient diagnosis and treatment. This role analyzes biological specimens, ensures quality control and regulatory compliance, and communicates critical information to clinical teams in an acute care hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, store, and transport specimens using correct techniques and protocols
• Perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing per CLIA ’88 guidelines
• Organize and analyze specimens, including quality control and validation of results
• Follow all laboratory safety procedures and protocols
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments
• Train and document proficiency of assigned employees and students as directed
• Receive and document incoming requests for specimen collection and blood draws
• Coordinate daily technical activities to ensure timely and accurate test completion
• Monitor worksheets, pending logs, and uncollected lists
• Assist with maintaining laboratory supplies
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Qualified to perform moderate and high-complexity testing as defined by CLIA ’88
• Minimum of 12 months training in an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program or equivalent experience
• Must obtain certification within 6 months of hire if not already certified

Education / Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related biological, chemical, or physical science from an accredited program
• Certification by a recognized national certifying agency (e.g., ASCP) required or obtained within 6 months
