Role Summary
The Clinic Director is a leadership position designed for a Physical Therapist who wants both clinical and operational ownership of an outpatient clinic. This role is responsible for the growth, development, and management of the clinic while maintaining a strong focus on patient-centered care and clinical outcomes.
Success in this role is driven by delivering exceptional physical therapy, building high-performing teams, and consistently exceeding industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Clinical Excellence
- Own and elevate quality of care using a patient-centered approach tailored to individual goals
- Maintain full clinical responsibilities alongside leadership duties
- Hire, develop, and manage a high-performing clinical and administrative team
Marketing & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with marketing initiatives to support clinic growth
- Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians and referral sources
- Attend community events, lunches, and networking opportunities
- Ensure the clinic is a positive and active presence in the local community
Financial & Operational Management
- Oversee scheduling and patient flow to maximize experience and access to care
- Manage productivity with clear, reasonable, and measurable expectations
- Own clinic budget and make data-driven financial decisions
- Monitor and manage clinic expenses
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal healthcare regulations
- Collaborate with revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement
- Track and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs) for clinic performance and profitability
- Provide input on policies, procedures, and long-term strategy
- Address patient feedback and concerns promptly and professionally
Leadership & Staff Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop clinic staff in a collaborative environment
- Manage schedules, performance reviews, onboarding, and ongoing training
- Promote staff engagement, retention, and professional growth
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive workplace
- Enforce policies that maintain a safe, positive, and productive work environment
Qualifications
- Doctorate or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) Physical Therapist
- Desire to own and operate an outpatient clinic
- 5+ years of proven experience delivering exceptional patient care
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and professional development
- Passion for leadership, mentorship, and team building
