RN Clinical Director – Ambulatory Surgery Center

An ambulatory surgery center in Tucson, Arizona is seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse Clinical Director to lead clinical operations and support high-quality patient care. This leadership role oversees both clinical and administrative staff while working collaboratively with physicians and anesthesia providers to coordinate surgical patient care.

The Clinical Director is responsible for maintaining clinical excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the efficient daily operations of the surgery center. This position includes a combination of clinical responsibilities and administrative leadership.

• Experience in perioperative nursing
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience
• Experience in ophthalmic surgery or specialty surgical settings preferred

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care Oversight

• Apply established clinical nursing standards and best practices in patient care delivery within the facility
• Coordinate patient care activities with surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure continuity of care
• Provide direct patient care as needed and monitor clinical areas to ensure patient needs are consistently met
• Ensure compliance with nursing practice standards and licensing/accreditation requirements to maintain high-quality patient care

Clinical Operations

• Supervise and evaluate clinical staff performance and support ongoing quality improvement initiatives
• Coordinate surgical procedure schedules and ensure appropriate staffing coverage
• Review clinical documentation to ensure adherence to facility policies and procedures
• Serve as a liaison between patients, families, clinical staff, and physicians to facilitate coordinated care
• Monitor daily operational activities to maintain efficiency and effectiveness, communicating any issues to senior leadership
• Develop staffing schedules based on surgical schedules, holidays, and approved time-off requests
• Assign daily staff responsibilities according to experience and skill level
• Oversee inventory management to maintain adequate medical supplies and equipment while promoting cost-effective utilization

Regulatory Compliance

• Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation standards
• Develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures that meet regulatory and accreditation requirements
• Regularly review and update policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance with regulatory and accrediting organizations

Minimum Requirements

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Arizona or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a surgical setting
• 1 year of staff supervisory or management experience
• 1 year of ambulatory surgery center experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic health records

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced education in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field (minimum two years preferred)
• Experience in ophthalmology or specialty surgery environments
