Position Summary
The RN Manager – Labor and Delivery is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and management of the Labor and Delivery and Postpartum/Newborn (PNU) units. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directing, planning, organizing, and evaluating unit operations
- Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards (e.g., TJC, CMS)
- Managing daily operations, staffing, and scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage
- Overseeing departmental budgets, resource utilization, and operational efficiency
- Collaborating with physicians, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care
- Monitoring and improving quality, safety, and patient satisfaction outcomes
- Leading performance management, staff development, and engagement initiatives
- Supporting program growth, service line development, and community outreach efforts
Qualifications
Education & Licensure:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (or compact licensure, as applicable)
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)
Certifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) – required within thirty days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required within 30 days of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – required within 90 days of hire
- STABLE certification – required within 5 years of hire
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification – required within five years of hire
