Opportunity Overview
A major regional hospital in Asheville is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN leader to join its management team as an Emergency Room Nurse Manager.
This is a high-acuity, high-volume emergency department within a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital. The ED includes approximately 100 beds, sees roughly 350 patients per day, and is supported by approximately 200 FTEs within a four-manager leadership structure.
This opportunity is well suited for an experienced Nurse Manager or a proven emergency nursing leader ready to take on broader operational responsibility in a large tertiary-care environment.

Position Responsibilities
The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for daily operations within the Emergency Department and works collaboratively with nursing leadership to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide day-to-day supervision, coordination, and clinical leadership within the Emergency Department
- Support staffing, resource allocation, patient flow, and operational effectiveness
- Partner with nursing leadership on departmental planning, process improvement, and strategic initiatives
- Use clinical, workforce, and financial data to support operational decision-making
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice and continuous quality improvement
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, professional, and organizational standards
- Support recruitment, onboarding, development, engagement, and retention of nursing staff
- Coach and develop clinical team members and emerging leaders
- Collaborate across nursing, medical, and hospital leadership teams
- Help maintain a supportive, accountable, and patient-centered culture
Required Qualifications
Education
- BSN or equivalent required
- ADN with MSN or bachelor's degree with MSN may satisfy the education requirement
- Master's degree in Nursing preferred
Licensure / Certifications
- Active North Carolina RN license or qualifying eNLC compact license
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of recent nursing experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant acute-care hospital experience
- Previous nursing leadership experience required
- Demonstrated leadership skills within an Emergency Department or closely related acute-care environment strongly preferred
