Registered Nurse (RN) – Perinatal Care

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: 7 AM - 7 PM

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional care in a dynamic clinical environment. The ideal candidate will practice independently, manage both routine and complex care, and contribute to long-term patient care goals. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, effective delegation, and the ability to manage clinical contingencies with confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Clinical Practice

  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation) to deliver high-quality care.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social patient needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for efficacy and side effects.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, and care interventions accurately.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers, ensuring comprehensive understanding of health conditions and treatments.

Patient Flow & Coordination

  • Anticipate and plan for admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Utilize appropriate communication systems and protocols to facilitate seamless transitions in care.

Unit Operations & Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate nursing activities during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in staffing decisions and resource allocation.

Safety, Quality, & Compliance

  • Adhere to patient safety protocols, promoting positive outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based nursing research.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and ethical standards.

Technical Proficiency

  • Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping using electronic and paper-based systems.
  • Utilize medical equipment effectively and educate patients on home medical devices.
  • Process medical orders with precision, minimizing errors and ensuring compliance.
  • Interpret and analyze patient charts to optimize treatment plans.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • All newly hired RNs must complete New Nurse Orientation within the first 30 days.
  • Completion of all annual competency verifications required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
  • Experience in a Perinatal Setting or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of employment or compact license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) certification or AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Course (must be obtained within 30 days for experienced nurses, 4 months for new graduates).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within 30 days for experienced nurses, 90 days for new graduates).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required at hire for experienced nurses, within 60 days for new graduates).
