Position Summary:

The Ambulatory & Physician Services Market Director provides operational oversight and strategic direction for assigned provider practices and provider-based clinics. This leader works in collaboration with the AVP of Operations and facility leadership to execute initiatives that drive practice performance and growth. The role includes direct leadership of one or more Clinic Administrators and/or Clinic Managers.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and support for clinic operations aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Manage all aspects of clinic performance including metrics, financial analysis, growth initiatives, and revenue cycle effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular meetings with providers, including biweekly check-ins and monthly performance reviews, to align operational goals and communication standards.
  • Prepare and review monthly reports and financial performance with providers.
  • Attend regular Physician Services meetings and annual strategy sessions.
  • Lead quarterly meetings with all providers within the assigned group.
  • Develop and manage clinic budgets, assess past performance, set future goals, and create action plans for budget variances.
  • Monitor and report financial outcomes, collaborating with clinic leaders to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to Clinic Administrators, with consistent communication and performance management.
  • Identify operational efficiencies in areas such as accounts receivable, charge capture, budget adherence, and reporting.
  • Support practice startups and expand existing revenue opportunities through fee schedules and service line development.
  • Oversee execution of market plans focused on attracting new patients and growing the practice.
  • Manage and evaluate clinic support staff, including performance reviews and HR matters.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

  • This role supports both internal staff and external stakeholders, including patients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Handles sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance, such as HIPAA.
  • Familiarity with business office practices, policies, and healthcare operations is essential.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree preferred, especially in larger markets.
  • Equivalent experience and training may be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years in physician practice management or a similar healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience is essential.

Certifications:

  • Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) or Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE) preferred.
