Palliative Care Services Director (RN) – Hospice
LOCATION: Billings, MT
JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent
The Director of Palliative Care Services will lead the strategic development, launch, and expansion of palliative care programs across multiple markets. This leadership role blends program innovation, operational management, and clinical oversight to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The ideal candidate will drive growth initiatives while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and evolving community needs.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Growth
- Design and implement new palliative care programs in targeted markets.
- Evaluate community needs to identify service gaps, referral opportunities, and potential partnerships.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and development of interdisciplinary teams to support program expansion.
- Create scalable care delivery models that integrate with health systems, home-based services, and community resources.
- Establish and track key performance metrics to measure program success and outcomes.
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to shape and execute growth strategies for palliative care services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, payers, and community organizations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and reimbursement guidelines, including CMS and accreditation standards.
Clinical & Operational Oversight
- Oversee quality of care, patient experience, and clinical outcomes across all service lines.
- Collaborate with medical and clinical leaders to implement evidence-based practices in serious illness care.
- Manage budgets, staffing plans, and operational resources to support sustainable growth.
Education & Advocacy
- Act as an ambassador for palliative care services, promoting awareness and program value.
- Provide education and mentorship to clinical teams, physicians, and community partners.
- Represent the organization at industry events, community forums, and policy discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field required.
- Clinical background (MD, DO, NP, RN, LCSW) strongly preferred.
- 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in palliative care, hospice, or population health.
- Demonstrated success launching and scaling healthcare programs across multiple regions.
- Strong skills in strategic planning, operational execution, and relationship management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team development capabilities.
Preferred Experience & Attributes
- Experience with value-based care models or alternative reimbursement structures.
- Proven ability to grow and expand community-based healthcare programs.
- Strong background in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and outreach.
- Familiarity with rural healthcare delivery and culturally diverse populations.
- Passion for delivering compassionate care with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
