Overview

Seeking a Senior Director, Physician Services to provide leadership and management for physician practice operations. This role is responsible for driving clinical and operational excellence, integrating physicians into the delivery system, and developing professional development programs for Physician Services staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and ongoing administration for all aspects of Physician Practice Management; ensure policies and procedures support efficient, effective operations.
  • Own financial and operational performance for Physician Practice Management; communicate and implement strategic initiatives to achieve program goals.
  • Support integration of physicians into the organization’s delivery system and coordinate with corporate, regional, and facility leadership.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate professional development strategies, initiatives, and programs for Physician Services; coordinate with Talent Development resources.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Market Directors and Market Managers overseeing employed physician operations.
  • Develop and implement programs, products, and services that support long-range strategic objectives for employed physicians.
  • Assist with due diligence for employed practice acquisitions; identify operational requirements and post-acquisition opportunities; support financial monitoring.
  • Serve as communication liaison among hospital management, group leadership, Physician Services, and practices.
  • Oversee operational start-up coordination for new practices with practice management staff.
  • Monitor physician employment agreements and ensure contract provisions reflect operational responsibilities; manage updates and revisions.
  • Supervise practice management teams and advise on appropriate staffing levels.
  • Conduct on-site practice visits to meet with physicians and staff; identify and communicate operational opportunities to senior leaders.
  • Oversee administrative systems for patient records, policies and procedures, reports, and regulatory compliance.
  • Recommend operational changes and ensure implementation and adherence.
  • Identify organizational or operational issues requiring intervention and recommend actions to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate preparation of annual operational and capital budgets for Practice Management; participate in fund allocation reviews and provide monthly and annual performance reporting and corrective action plans.
  • Lead execution and ongoing updates of Meaningful Use / EMR implementation plans to improve quality, clinical outcomes, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Physician Services and Human Resources leaders to ensure program effectiveness, including coordination with learning and development functions.
  • Develop and coordinate quarterly orientation and training for new managers and providers; engage appropriate resources for comprehensive training on practice startups, financials, coding, compliance, quality, legal, etc.
  • Serve as facilitator for professional advancement programs (e.g., CMPE) and develop basic practice management skills assessments and training.
  • Support talent identification and development efforts for practice management leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Graduation from a program in Health Care Management or Business Administration is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing physician practices.
  • Live in the Las Cruces, NM area or be willing to relocate within 45 days
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently.
  • Comfort working in high-pressure environments and taking appropriate action as needed.
