Overview
The RN Manager of Labor & Delivery is responsible for directing, planning, organizing, and evaluating the Labor & Delivery and Postnatal Unit (PNU) departments to ensure compliance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements, including State, TJC, CMS, and AHCA guidelines.
This leadership role oversees daily operations, patient care delivery, staff performance, departmental efficiency, budgeting, and program coordination. The Nurse Manager works collaboratively with hospital leadership and medical staff to promote high-quality patient outcomes, operational excellence, and a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Labor & Delivery and PNU department operations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, performance management, and employee development
- Coordinate patient care services to support quality outcomes and patient satisfaction
- Manage departmental budgets and operational goals
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
- Support implementation of clinical initiatives, policies, and best practices
- Maintain efficient workflow and effective communication across departments
Qualifications
- Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN Licensure meeting Florida requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 30 days of hire
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 30 days of hire
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required within 90 days of hire
- STABLE certification required within 60 months of hire
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required within 60 months of hire
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Previous leadership or management experience in Labor & Delivery
- Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Knowledge of maternal-child health regulations and standards
- Commitment to patient-centered care and staff development
