Position Summary


The RN Manager – Labor and Delivery is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and management of the Labor and Delivery and Postpartum/Newborn (PNU) units. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Directing, planning, organizing, and evaluating unit operations
  • Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards (e.g., TJC, CMS)
  • Managing daily operations, staffing, and scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage
  • Overseeing departmental budgets, resource utilization, and operational efficiency
  • Collaborating with physicians, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care
  • Monitoring and improving quality, safety, and patient satisfaction outcomes
  • Leading performance management, staff development, and engagement initiatives
  • Supporting program growth, service line development, and community outreach efforts


Qualifications


Education & Licensure:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (or compact licensure, as applicable)
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)


Certifications:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) – required within thirty days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required within 30 days of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – required within 90 days of hire
  • STABLE certification – required within 5 years of hire
  • Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification – required within five years of hire
