Nurse Manager – Labor & Delivery

Compensation: $240,000 – $260,000 + Full Benefits
A leading integrated healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager II – Labor & Delivery to oversee a high-performing maternal services team in Santa Clara, California. Position Overview
The Nurse Manager will provide clinical and operational leadership for Labor & Delivery services in a 24/7 acute care setting. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care while leading staff development, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and strategic initiatives across the department.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Labor & Delivery unit within a continuous 24/7 care environment
- Ensure safe staffing, efficient resource utilization, and high standards of patient care
- Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards
- Promote patient safety, service excellence, and clinical best practices
Team Development
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and retain top nursing talent
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture
- Support succession planning and professional growth of nursing staff
- Provide ongoing feedback, performance management, and leadership development
Strategic & Financial Oversight
- Manage departmental budgets, payroll, and cost-control initiatives
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement improvement plans
- Lead quality initiatives, workflow enhancements, and operational efficiencies
- Partner with physicians and executive leadership to align departmental goals with organizational priorities
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Drive continuous readiness for audits and surveys
- Oversee risk management, policy adherence, and patient care standards
- Implement systems and processes that improve quality outcomes and patient experience
Qualifications
Required
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- 5+ years of patient care experience
- 5+ years of healthcare operations, clinical leadership, or related experience
- 4+ years of leadership experience managing teams or departments
Preferred
- Previous leadership experience in Labor & Delivery, Women’s Services, or Maternal Child Health
- Strong background in hospital operations, quality improvement, and team development
- Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced acute care setting
