Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM & Rotating after-hours on-call responsibilities

An established and highly respected hospice organization is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Director to lead a dedicated interdisciplinary team in the Petaluma/Sonoma territory. This is an outstanding opportunity for a strong hospice or home health leader with a passion for operational excellence, compliance, clinical quality, and team development.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, deep clinical knowledge, and a proven ability to oversee hospice operations, regulatory compliance, and survey readiness while supporting exceptional patient care.
Position Overview
The RN Clinical Director oversees daily clinical operations and leads an interdisciplinary team of nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and support staff. This role partners closely with operational leadership, physicians, and community liaisons to ensure high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and overall program success. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring visibility both in-office and in the field to support staff, patients, and clinical operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support interdisciplinary hospice clinical teams
- Oversee patient care delivery and ensure compliance with hospice regulations and standards
- Maintain survey readiness and operational excellence across the program
- Conduct chart audits and oversee accurate clinical documentation
- Support staff development through coaching, training, mentoring, and performance evaluations
- Facilitate interdisciplinary team meetings and plan-of-care discussions
- Assist with onboarding and ongoing clinical education initiatives
- Collaborate with leadership to support census growth and quality outcomes
- Provide clinical oversight and support in both office and field settings as needed
Qualifications
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing strongly preferred
- Minimum two (2) years of recent hospice, home health, or community health nursing experience
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, compliance, and survey processes
- Experience managing terminal care, symptom management, crisis intervention, and family support
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- EMR proficiency and general computer competency required
- Current CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance required
Compensation & Benefits
- $155,000 – $165,000 annual salary

Additional Details
- This position will primarily oversee an established Marin County-area clinical team with experienced staff already in place and strong operational support.
- The organization is specifically seeking candidates with strengths in hospice operations, compliance, and survey readiness.
- Hospice leadership experience is strongly preferred, though experienced home health leaders with strong operational backgrounds may also be considered.
