Dental Ceramist – High Esthetics / Department Manager

Location - New York (Crown Heights area)

Salary: 85-130k DOE

Seeking an experienced and highly skilled Dental Ceramist with a strong background in high-esthetic anterior and full-mouth restorations to lead and manage a busy ceramics department. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical abilities, artistic talent, and proven leadership experience managing and developing laboratory personnel while maintaining the highest standards of quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and finish high-esthetic restorations, including veneers, crowns, bridges, implant restorations, and full-mouth rehabilitations.
  • Perform porcelain layering, contouring, staining, glazing, and characterization to achieve natural esthetics and optimal function.
  • Oversee daily operations of the ceramics department, ensuring efficient workflow, quality control, and on-time case completion.
  • Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate ceramists and support staff to maintain a high-performance team environment.
  • Collaborate with dentists, clinicians, and laboratory departments to ensure accurate case planning and exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Review incoming cases, prescriptions, and digital files to ensure completeness and technical accuracy.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance standards for all ceramic restorations.
  • Assist with troubleshooting complex cases and providing technical guidance to team members.
  • Monitor department productivity, scheduling, and workload distribution.
  • Stay current with advances in dental materials, digital workflows, CAD/CAM technology, and ceramic techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10+ years of dental ceramics experience with demonstrated expertise in high-esthetic restorations.
  • Previous supervisory, lead, or management experience within a dental laboratory environment required.
  • Proven ability to manage, train, and motivate team members.
  • Strong understanding of porcelain systems, zirconia, lithium disilicate, implant restorations, and digital dentistry workflows.
  • Excellent attention to detail, color matching, morphology, and esthetic design principles.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD/CAM systems and digital dental laboratory workflows.
  • Background in complex cosmetic and implant-supported restorative cases.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and improving departmental efficiency and quality outcomes.
