Staff Accountant

New Hyde Park, NY

Please Note: This is an in-office position based in New Hyde Park, NY, Monday through Friday.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close activities, financial reporting, and compliance efforts. Experience with prepaid expenses, fixed assets, banking, and accounts payable is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Manage prepaid expense schedules
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and disposals
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor transactions
• Support accounts payable and corporate credit card processing
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close
• Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes
• Collaborate with internal departments as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot is a plus

Compensation

$75,000 - $85,000 annually
