Imaging Manager

Patients do not experience imaging as equipment. They experience it as waiting, clarity, and confidence that the right study was done the right way. This role exists to make diagnostic imaging reliable under real volume: safe exams, readable images, and results that reach clinicians in time to change care. You will set the standard for how the department performs when the schedule is full and the stakes are clinical.

Performance Objectives

• Raise on-time exam completion and report-ready turnaround for high-volume modalities by removing bottlenecks in scheduling, prep, and handoff.
• Cut repeat and suboptimal studies by tightening protocols, coaching image quality, and aligning technologists with radiologist expectations.
• Hold radiation dose, contrast use, and safety events inside policy, with documented corrective action when variation appears.
• Staff coverage so critical modalities stay open across peaks, call, and unplanned absences without chronic overtime.
• Lift patient experience on wait time, communication, and dignity, measured in scores and complaint trends you own.
• Deliver the operating plan: productivity, supply use, and service levels against budget, with early flags when volume shifts.
• Keep the department survey-ready—accreditation, competency, and equipment documentation current before an inspector asks.

Environment & Resources

You lead imaging technologists and support staff across core modalities and report to hospital or service-line leadership, with a working partnership to radiology medical leadership. You will have scheduling and quality data, modality leads, biomedical support, and a defined operating budget. Decisions on staffing patterns, protocol adherence, and daily flow sit with you; capital requests go through a clear approval path.

Essential Qualifications

• Proven leadership of a diagnostic imaging team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Working command of CT, MRI, radiography, and at least one additional modality’s workflow, quality, and safety requirements.
• Track record improving throughput, image quality, or dose/safety metrics—not only maintaining them.
• Fluency with regulatory and accreditation expectations that govern imaging operations.
• Ability to read productivity, wait-time, and quality reports and act on them the same week.
• Current credentials required for imaging leadership in the practice setting, plus eligibility to work in the assigned location.
