ABOUT THE ROLE

A well-established acute care hospital in Texarkana, TX is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department. In this role you practice independently, manage both routine and complex patients, and help keep a fast-paced ER running smoothly by coordinating care and delegating to the care team.

PAY

• $28.00 - $46.40 per hour, based on experience
• Non-exempt (hourly) position
• Sign-on bonus available
• Relocation assistance available

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Provide nursing care through the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation
• Care for patients with a wide range of acute conditions; recognize changes and escalate to the team quickly
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol and monitor for effectiveness and side effects
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural and social needs of patients and families
• Document history, symptoms, medications and care in the electronic health record; process and validate orders, including verbal and standing orders
• Plan for admission, discharge and transfer to keep patient flow moving
• Serve as a resource on your shift: help direct unit operations, assess staffing needs and make appropriate assignments
• Educate patients and families, and coach and train fellow team members
• Champion patient safety, evidence-based practice and quality improvement
• Use and troubleshoot medical equipment to keep patients safe

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Active RN license in Texas or a compact (multistate) license - required
• BLS certification - required
• 1+ year of Emergency/related nursing experience - preferred
• BSN - preferred
• Strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Hospital setting with constant use of diagnostic equipment, computers and PPE
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push/pull and move throughout the shift
