Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (Women's Services)

Location: Rutherfordton, NC

Status: Full-Time

Shift: Day and Night positions available - 3x12s

Overview

A community acute-care hospital in the foothills of western North Carolina is hiring experienced Labor and Delivery RNs for its Women's Services unit. This is a small, close-knit team that cares for patients across the full continuum - Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Antepartum - so you'll support moms and babies through every stage of care in a collaborative, team-focused setting. Multiple openings available.

What You'll Do

• Care for patients through labor and delivery, including Pitocin induction/augmentation, magnesium sulfate for preeclampsia and preterm labor, and amnioinfusion
• Care for post-operative cesarean section and gynecology patients, plus postpartum and antepartum patients
• Provide newborn care including preterm infants, phototherapy, oxygen, IV antibiotics, circumcision care, NG tube placement/feeding, and car seat testing
• Evaluate non-stress tests and assist physicians with IUPC insertion
• Support patients and families through difficult outcomes, including fetal demise
• Assess and reassess patients, build individualized care plans, and document responses to interventions
• Follow safe medication practices and complete medication reconciliation at admission, transfer, and discharge
• Lead patient and family education and partner with the interdisciplinary team on discharge planning
• Give clear, timely handoff communication
• Help orient and train new team members

What You Bring

• Active North Carolina RN license or Compact license with NC privileges
• 2+ years of Labor and Delivery RN experience, including recent L&D experience within the last 2 years (required)
• Comfort working across L&D, Postpartum, and Antepartum - cross-training in Postpartum and Antepartum available
• ADN required; BSN preferred
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, and Handle With Care
• Strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently and stay calm under pressure

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time, 3x12-hour shifts - day and night positions available
• $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience
• Sign-on bonus
