About the Role:
As a Staff Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in evaluating, treating, and preventing disability, injury, disease, and other health conditions for our patients. You will utilize a variety of physical, chemical, and mechanical means, including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and modalities, to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals. This position is primarily evening shift, Monday-Friday 12 pm-8 pm, with rotating weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals.
- Implement and modify treatment plans, assessing rehabilitation potential and participating in discharge planning.
- Conduct regular assessments/re-evaluations and adjust program goals as needed.
- Treat a diverse patient population, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
- Administer oxygen and titrate oxygen flow under the orders of a qualified provider.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals (OT, ST, Social Services, etc.) to coordinate patient care.
- Utilize a variety of treatment techniques and skills for diverse patient needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient treatment and progress.
- Schedule patient sessions and manage workload effectively.
- Instruct patients and families on the use and care of equipment and apparatus.
- Supervise Physical Medicine Technicians, students, and volunteers.
- Maintain department equipment and report any defects.
- Consult with other departments and physicians to coordinate therapeutic programs and communicate patient progress.
- Teach physical therapy techniques to students.
- Participate in quality of care assessments and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Attend department meetings, conferences, and continuing education programs.
- Participate in rotations to bedside care and outpatient clinic.
- Provide patient education regarding billing for services and equipment.
- Determine equipment needs for patients and the department.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program (B.A./B.S. or higher degree).
- Current New York State Physical Therapy license or eligibility for licensure.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required within 6 months of hire.
- Experience treating adults and seniors.
