Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in our interdisciplinary care team by providing direct patient care support and administrative assistance. This individual will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure our patients—many of whom face significant barriers to care—receive dignified, efficient, and culturally sensitive services.


Key Responsibilities:


Clinical Support:

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist with patient intake, including vitals, medical histories, and screening questionnaires.
  • Support providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines per provider orders and scope of practice.
  • Collect and process lab specimens (e.g., blood, urine).
  • Perform point-of-care testing and ensure proper documentation.


Patient Engagement & Advocacy:

  • Provide education to patients about medications, health conditions, and follow-up care.
  • Assist patients with scheduling, referrals, and navigating community resources.
  • Foster a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment for patients from diverse backgrounds.


Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Manage inventory of clinical supplies and ensure proper sterilization of equipment.
  • Support front office as needed (e.g., check-in/out, phone calls, insurance verification).


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA preferred).
  • BLS certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working with underserved or high-need populations preferred.
