Position Summary:
The Clinical Director serves as the clinical and strategic leader of our care delivery team, responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medical services provided. This individual will be both a practicing physician and an administrative leader, guiding care standards, mentoring providers, and aligning clinical operations with our mission to reduce health disparities. The ideal candidate is a board-certified Family Medicine or Primary Care physician with a deep commitment to community health and collaborative leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Oversight:
- Provide medical leadership to a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, RNs, MAs, and support staff
- Supervise and mentor providers, fostering a supportive and accountable clinical culture
- Guide clinical quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to evidence-based practices
- Oversee credentialing, privileging, peer review, and provider performance evaluations
Direct Patient Care:
- Maintain a part-time patient panel with dedicated administrative time
- Provide comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages, with a focus on prevention and chronic disease management
- Model best practices in trauma-informed, culturally competent, and equity-focused care
Program & Operational Development:
- Collaborate with organizational leadership on strategic planning, staffing models, and service line development
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., HRSA, Joint Commission, NCQA, state licensing boards)
- Partner with operations, IT, and quality teams to optimize clinical workflows and EHR utilization
Community & Mission Alignment:
- Represent the organization externally with public health partners, funders, and community stakeholders
- Champion initiatives that address social determinants of health, health literacy, and care navigation barriers
- Promote a team culture centered on service, dignity, and patient empowerment
Qualifications:
- MD or DO with active, unrestricted license in Maryland
- Board-certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Experience working in a community health center, strongly preferred
- DEA license and current BLS required
- Strong communication, team-building, and organizational leadership skills
- Bilingual or multilingual skills a plus
