Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist to join a collaborative acute care rehabilitation team. The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive evaluation and evidence-based treatment to patients experiencing mobility, functional, and physical impairments related to acute illness, injury, surgery, and hospitalization.

The therapist will develop individualized plans of care designed to improve mobility, strength, function, and independence while supporting safe and effective discharge planning. This position works closely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to promote optimal patient outcomes.

New graduates are welcome to apply. Previous rehabilitation experience is preferred but not required.


Job Duties and Responsibilities


Clinical Care


  • Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and establish individualized plans of care.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions based on patient needs, clinical findings, and established goals.
  • Treat patients with a variety of acute medical, surgical, orthopedic, and functional conditions.
  • Develop and progress therapeutic exercise, mobility, strengthening, balance, and functional training programs.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education regarding mobility, safety, exercise, and strategies to support continued recovery after discharge.
  • Assess functional mobility and assist patients in progressing toward the highest appropriate level of independence.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatments, progress, and patient communications.
  • Maintain department productivity and quality standards.


Interdisciplinary Collaboration


  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case management, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Communicate effectively regarding patient status, functional progress, treatment goals, and discharge recommendations.
  • Participate in discharge planning to help ensure safe transitions of care.


Professional Development & Quality


  • Participate in professional development activities, staff education, and departmental in-services.
  • Support orientation and mentorship of new staff and students.
  • Contribute to quality and safety initiatives that promote patient mobility, improve outcomes, and support efficient hospital care.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable professional, organizational, and regulatory standards.


Job Requirements


Education


  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.


Licensure


  • Current Physical Therapist license in the State of California, or eligibility to obtain California licensure prior to the start of employment.


Experience


  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Previous rehabilitation experience is preferred but not required.
  • Acute care experience is a plus.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and patient-care skills.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered, evidence-based care.


Certification


  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent.


Schedule


  • Full-time position
  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Five days per week
  • Rotating weekends and holidays


Compensation


  • $55–$78 per hour, based on experience, certifications, education, and other qualifications.
