The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through strategic oversight of department operations, staffing, budgeting, and resource management. This role provides leadership in planning, forecasting, performance improvement, and operational excellence while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Director supports the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and initiatives that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Clinical Excellence

  • Promote a culture of clinical excellence by implementing evidence-based practices that enhance patient safety and improve quality outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to established standards of care and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and reduce variations in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost management.
  • Foster accountability and transparency in the delivery of patient care.
  • Stay informed of industry benchmarks, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements, and lead efforts to achieve and maintain compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and practices that support legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure medical equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Optimize patient throughput through effective volume forecasting, patient flow management, and admission/discharge planning.
  • Develop and implement care coordination processes that improve quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and communication across departments to ensure appropriate staffing and patient care coverage.
  • Oversee nursing practice and departmental operations, ensuring patient and family needs are assessed, addressed, and evaluated effectively.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in emergency services, nursing management, or a related healthcare setting required
  • 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience in emergency or acute care services preferred
