Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, clinically sharp Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to join the leadership team in our state-of-the-art 16-bed Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit.

Operating in a modern, family-centered environment that blends high-acuity clinical excellence with a supportive community feel, this role serves as the crucial bridge between bedside care and operational leadership. In this position, you will guide a dedicated nursing team, optimize unit workflow, foster professional development, and drive quality, safety, and patient-satisfaction initiatives across every shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Unit Leadership: Serve as a clinical expert and operational resource on the unit, coordinating patient flow, making bed assignments, and ensuring seamless shift-to-shift transitions.
  • Team Mentorship & Growth: Guide, coach, and support staff nurses and unit personnel to promote professional development, retention, and a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
  • Quality & Patient Safety: Partner with the Nurse Manager to drive performance improvement, safety protocols, and evidence-based clinical initiatives that optimize patient outcomes.
  • Family-Centered Care Advocacy: Ensure the delivery of compassionate, high-quality care across all private rooms, maintaining high standards for patient satisfaction and safety.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with shift scheduling, performance evaluations, compliance oversight, and real-time problem-solving to maintain operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted State Registered Nurse (RN) License (or ability to obtain prior to start).
  • Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers via the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Experience: Proven bedside clinical experience in Inpatient Obstetrics / Labor & Delivery with demonstrated informal or formal leadership capabilities (e.g., Charge Nurse, Preceptor).

Preferred:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred; graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Advanced Certifications: ACLS, PALS, or Specialty Certification (e.g., RNC-OB, C-EFM) highly desirable.
