Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Job Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides patient-centered physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role supports the delivery of rehabilitative care to help patients improve mobility, strength, function, and overall quality of life in inpatient and/or outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, functional mobility training, and modalities as prescribed.
• Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, mobility techniques, and safety precautions.
• Accurately document treatments, patient progress, and outcomes in accordance with professional standards and regulations.
• Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment and follow infection control practices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support continuity of care.
• Comply with all applicable state regulations, professional standards, and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

Experience & Skills

• Prior experience in inpatient, outpatient, or rehabilitation settings preferred.
• Strong knowledge of physical therapy techniques and patient care principles.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with patients of varying ages and functional abilities.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

Licensure & Certification

• Active Texas Physical Therapist Assistant license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
